They're baaaaack!!

I caved...

Two weeks ago I gave Reagan the pacifier while she was playing in her exersaucer. She had been whining and whining. Not a full on cry, but fussing quite a bit. We had been doing so well at night since taking the pacifier away, but the fussing during the day was getting to me.

I went into the storage bin, brought out the pacis, and thought I'd give it one more try.  Pure bliss!  She immediately calmed down and happily sucked away. When it fell out, she picked it up and put it back in her mouth! WHAT! I was amazed. In just two short weeks she had gone from not being able to keep the pacifier in and certainly not being able to pick it up--->to keeping it in her mouth, pulling it out when she wanted and putting it back in when she wanted. "Unbelievable!", is all I kept thinking.

We started a paci rule that she was only allowed to have it when awake. We were certainly not going to give it to her at night. No way! Who wants to go through all that drama again? Not me!

I caved...

Last Sunday I gave Reagan the paci at bedtime. {gasp}  She had been waking up every 30-45 minutes after I had put her to bed and I couldn't figure out what the problem was.  She has been rolling onto her stomach to sleep and consequently has been sleeping sooooo much better, but for some reason this night she was not getting into a deep sleep.  I slipped the paci in and did not hear from her for the next 6 hours!!!!  She then woke up for a little bottle and went back to sleep for another 4 hours.  Was this all that needed to happen in order to start getting some sleep around here--some belly sleeping with a pacifier?  I don't know, but I like finally getting some sleep for myself:)

This is Reagan after her morning nap this morning.  Ruthie is not happy b/c we interrupted her cartoon.  They really did look so cute sitting there together watching Dora.  Doesn't Reagan look so snuggly with her paci, sleep sack and bed head:)

Oops! Where did Ruthie go?  Now she was really starting to get mad b/c we wanted more pics.  Reagan didn't mind.  She was smiling behind that paci!

I'm happy we seem to have passed the "paci hump" but next time I may be a little more forceful that our next kid finds his/her thumb!  lol

  1. Whatever it takes, right??? So cute. I love Ruthie's expressions "uh Mom, can't you see I'm busy here??" Eleanor has yet to find her thumb, despite all my efforts to stick it in her mouth!
