Newport Aquarium

Let's lighten up the mood around here after yesterdays post.

The girls and I had a great weekend in Fairfield. Sunday Ruthie and I took our first trip to the Newport Aquarium in Kentucky.  We went with my brother Adam, his girlfriend Jill, and my niece Haley.  Before we went inside, Sonic the hedgehog was posing for pictures.  Someone in a Nemo costume would have been more appropriate outside the aquarium but I guess a hedgehog will do.  Ruthie had no idea who this character was, but she's always up for a picture!

I only had my phone camera with me b/c the aquarium trip was spontaneous.  Some of the pictures are a little grainy, but you'll see that we had a lot of fun.

Hello there puffer fish!

Ruthie fed the birds some nectar while I got pooped on holding her up high so she could reach the birds.  Lovely!  Haley had fun telling everybody I got pooped on.

The jellyfish were Ruthie's favorite.

They really are amazing to watch.

Maybe instead of having a fish tank in my house I could have a jellyfish tank.  There is something very soothing about watching them move around.

In the jellyfish area there was a game where the girls could try to hit as many jellyfish off the screen as they could.  The girls had fun racing back and forth swatting the air.  Great exercise if you ask me!

There were many tunnels that gave you the feeling of walking under the ocean.

We had a lot of fun watching the stingrays and sharks swim back and forth...back and forth.

There was a special tank where we could pet sharks.  That was a first for Ruthie and me.

She got soaked because she kept leaning over the edge to touch the sharks.  At one point I was afraid she was going to fall in.

We hit up the candy shop outside the aquarium when we were done.  Ruthie's choice was cotton candy.  My choice, Dippin' Dots!!!

The weather was so nice on Sunday that the girls were able to ride their bikes at Memaw and Bop Bop's.

I tried to get Reagan to smile for me, but she was purposefully avoiding the camera!

Hands on her hips with a smile for the street I guess.  Little stinker!

Since we've been getting a taste of spring with the warm weather around here, we all have cabin fever when we have to stay inside.  I'm really looking forward to spring this year.  For the first time since Reagan was born I will not be in school.  That means I will be able to play outside with my girls instead of being stuck in the spare bedroom studying.  That makes me happy!  :)
