The Radtke's: George

I've got an Easter post in the works, but I thought I would talk about why George has to leave our family first. I just took these pictures tonight in hopes of getting a good picture so we can post an ad about him. Do you know how hard it is to take a decent picture of a cat?!

We are really heartbroken over this, but George bit Ruthie in the face recently.

George bit quite frequently as a kitten, but the vet said that was normal. As George got older, his biting didn't stop and it began to hurt. The vet said he may just be a little more of a biter b/c he didn't have a chance to grow up with his litter mates and learn that biting hurts.

We have tried different tactics to try and get him to stop biting. Nothing has worked and he has now become more aggressive. He has bitten Reagan numerous times on the arm and leg and frequently bites guests on the feet when they come over. We just can't get him to stop biting!!

Biting Ruthie in the face was the last straw for us. The poor guy needs a family that is home way more often than way we are, and a home where he can get fresh air and sunlight. Right now he hangs out in a basement by himself pretty much most of the week. We are of course around in the morning and evenings, but he sleeps in a storage room b/c he wakes us up at night.

George is a very social cat who can be loving, but I think he needs more attention than we can give him. He might do better in a home without children as well. Since we are planning on having more kids, we can't take the chance that George would bite the baby.

We are trying to find him a home, and if not a shelter that will take him and not euthanize him. We would all feel horrible if he was just put to death. We rescued him as a kitten after his mother abandoned him (and his two other sisters) last August.
