Day Five

I was too tired last night to get a post up. Brendan and I biked almost 9 miles with the girls and I was exhausted!!

I forgot to post that on Tuesday I tried boiled peanuts for the first time.  Interesting is my best description.  A boiled peanut that tastes like a peanut but is soft like a bean.  It wasn't bad, but I don't think I'll be craving them anytime soon.  We also got some fresh caught shrimp on the way home from Savannah.  Brendan cooked it when we got home and it was delicious!!!

Now, back to yesterday.  We went for a bike ride in the morning and then came back and took the girls to the pool.  I had to snap this picture so you could see the guy in the the background trying to meditate.  I mentioned before that the majority of people here are of retirement age.  That means there are not many children!  As soon as I saw him I thought, "Oh you poor man!  We are about to ruin your silence and relaxation."  It didn't take long for him to get up and leave.  Sorry!!

We also went to the beach later in the day.  This is the extent of the people on the beach.  It's not very crowded at all.

The girls wanted to build a sandcastle.

Reagan is smiling here, but she did not last long on the beach.  She kept saying, "No beach.  No beach." I think it's a combination of the waves (which she is terrified of) and the feeling of the sand on her hands.  She can't stand it!!

Reagan and I headed back to the pool where she tried to get warm by staying under the water.

That night we went for a bike ride to the Salty Dog Cafe.  On the way we saw one of many alligators we've seen while cruising around the island.

This is what I love about Hilton Head.  All the beautiful trees and bike paths.  It's very relaxing.

There was a one man band playing at the Cafe when we arrived.  The girls immediately hopped up on a wooden box and started dancing!

We then walked out on a small pier to take a look at the boats.

The Salty Dog Cafe.

We got some ice cream as a special treat before we headed back home.

Ruthie got a scoop of ice cream called Cookie Monster.  It was blue ice cream (which I thought meant it was a raspberry flavor but it wasn't) with cookie dough and oreo cookie pieces in it.

Ruthie loved it but it was full of nasty blue dye that turned her whole mouth blue!!!  We didn't let her finish the ice cream because it was so disturbing.  What company would make an ice cream like that?!

We are thankful that everyday here has been gorgeous!!!  We are loving being outside.
